From LDT to POCT through Autonomous Signal Amplification

FLOAT BIO develops next-generation diagnostic technologies that enable complex laboratory assays to be performed rapidly and intuitively at the point of care. We are pioneering innovative signal amplification systems inspired by nature's interfacial transport mechanisms, with the mission of transforming highly sensitive diagnostics into accessible everyday healthcare tools.

Conventional diagnostic platforms often rely on multi-step workflows, bulky instrumentation, and time-dependent signal amplification processes that limit accessibility, scalability, and decentralized testing. These limitations become even more critical for early disease detection, where ultra-sensitive detection of low-abundance biomarkers is essential. To overcome these challenges, we developed BLOOM, a biomimetic phase-transition signaling platform designed to autonomously transport and concentrate diagnostic signals across fluidic interfaces.

BLOOM utilizes buoyancy-driven phase-transfer carriers inspired by natural interfacial transport systems, such as floating biological spores and cellular compartmentalization mechanisms. Through controlled phase-transition dynamics, BLOOM enables rapid signal concentration and amplification without complex instrumentation or operator-dependent procedures. This strategy allows highly sensitive molecular detection while maintaining operational simplicity suitable for point-of-care and at-home diagnostics.

Using this platform, FLOAT BIO is developing diagnostic solutions for infectious diseases, cancer biomarkers, and next-generation decentralized healthcare applications. BLOOM is designed to bridge the gap between laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) and practical point-of-care testing (POCT), enabling early disease detection through autonomous, ultra-sensitive signal amplification.

Based on the broad adaptability of the BLOOM platform, FLOAT BIO aims to expand its applications across molecular diagnostics, digital health, home healthcare, and resource-limited testing environments.
